A Texan individual encountered a severe flesh-eating infection.
The story was shared by an anonymous listener of The Rod Ryan Show on KTBZ-FM The Buzz.
This gymgoer, who remains unnamed, detailed his ordeal in an email to the show. He not only shared some pictures, which showed his foot encountering a severe flesh-eating infection but also emphasized to everyone the importance of wearing shoes in public showers.
The story shows that a man was training for a marathon during his lunch breaks. However, he reveals that he left out his flip-flops on these occasions, opting for barefoot showers to avoid returning to work sweaty.
Soon, the man noticed there was a spot at the bottom of his left foot. The man later discovered a hardened spot, initially believed to be a singular wart, but the wounds persisted and expanded in size, which eventually multiplied to five, spread across his foot, and developed into open wounds.
The situation is getting worse as the injuries become more and more serious. Conveniently, the man makes the decision to undergo skin graft surgery, using fish scales.
In addition to recounting his story, he also shares his photos as a warning to others regarding the potential hazards lurking on shower floors. Doctors inserted grafts from North Atlantic cod into the soles of his feet until the wounds finally began to heal.
He said: 'I went through the same treatments, but at a much higher concentration.'
'My entire foot would swell and the pain was so bad, I couldn't walk. I couldn't even put my leg down as the blood rushing to my foot would cause the skin to swell and put me in excruciating pain.'
Two months after the surgery, the man said it would take another month to recover.
Among other things, he warned people not to make the same mistake and stressed the importance of wearing shoes when going to the gym.
