In a recent incident, two lifelong best friends in Hawaii have recently learned that they are in fact, half-brothers.
According to their claims, Alan Robinson and Walter Macfarlane first met when they were sixth graders and quickly formed a deep friendship that would span over six decades.
Growing up together in Honolulu, the pair were practically inseparable, playing football in high school and always keeping their presence in each other's lives long into adulthood.
Both men had been adopted as children, leaving gaps in their knowledge of their biological families.
Walter, a retired teacher, knew that his mother had been young when she had him during World War II and that his grandmother had raised him as her own son. However, the identity of his biological father remained a mystery.
Walter's mother was young when she had him during World War II. She was unable to take care of him on her own.
So, the family made a decision. Walter's grandmother would act as his mother. And Walter's biological mother would be seen as his sister instead.
The family arranged things so that Walter's grandmother would raise him, while his biological mother was treated as his sister.
It wasn't until 2016 when Walter's daughter Cindy suggested he take a DNA test, that the truth about his family lineage began to disclose.
Cindy noticed realized striking similarities between Walter's DNA profile and that ò a user named 'Robby737' on the Ancestry.com website. The connection was undeniable.
In fact, Robby737 was Alan Robinson, Walter's longtime best friend.
The two men were stunned when they connected on the phone and confirmed the shocking news. They were extremely surprised by this and then they examined and compared their arms.
Despite the unexpected revelation, the pair's unbreakable bond remained intact. They described the experience as "an overwhelming" but ultimately joyful one, likening their discovery to "a Christmas miracle."
How couldn't they tell? They look the same! One user said.
It's like parent trap. I love how one was like "I thought we looked alike because we're both half Hawaiian," the second user said.
Lol so for the last 60 years they just casually ignored the fact that they are almost identical, the third user commented.
I’m sure at one point in their friendship, they expressed how they were not just friends, they were brothers for life. Turns out they actually were! Soulmates aren’t just romantic, sometimes it’s a different type of love, another wrote.
This is so cute. They were complete strangers when they met each other and raised completely different in different families, but somehow they found one another and spent their adult lives together, someone said.
They were placed with two different families, living hundreds of kilometers apart, for 19 years. One day, a friend of one of the sisters saw a TikTok video featuring a woman who looked exactly like her.
The twins then met at a metro station in Tbilisi and underwent DNA testing to confirm their relationship. The results showed they were indeed identical twin sisters.
The case has shed light on a major problem of child trafficking in Georgia over many decades.
It's estimated that over 100,000 babies have been separated from their families and sold to wealthy individuals for thousands or tens of thousands of dollars.
Evidence suggests the twins' biological father had sold them, believing they were not his own children. Currently, the twins have no plans to establish a relationship with their father.
As children, both Ano and Tako enjoyed dancing. When Ano entered a dance competition at age 11, someone there noticed how similar she looked to someone else.
However, the twins did not reconnect until they were in their late teens.
Ano's friend showed her a TikTok video of a woman who looked just like Ano, except for her blue hair.
