Photographer Dmitry captured these photos on Russia's northernmost island using a flycam, as approaching the polar bears is dangerous due to their unpredictable behavior.
Their bright white fur contrasts beautifully with the drab and desolate atmosphere of the buildings, and Dmitry's photographs look as if they have stepped out of an old fairy tale.
Even though months have passed, when I fall asleep, the image of the polar bear by the old window keeps popping up in my dreams," the photographer said.
Photographer Dmitry Kokh took impressive pictures of polar bears in abandoned houses. "The House of Bears" by photographer Dmitry Kokh won the top prize in the Nature Photographer Contest 2022.
Around 20 bears roam the island, wandering among the abandoned houses. Female bears mostly stay closer to the shore of the island as they take care of their cubs.
Dmitry also recorded polar bears in their natural habitat, showcasing their natural behaviors in his photos.
