When she arrived at Wilbur's old house, she was surprised by the "Beware of Dog" warning sign posted out front. So she entered cautiously until she saw the distressed dog lying on the ground that the sign mentioned.
When Williams arrived, the dog slowly walked out with a weak body, the ribs on his body were visible because he could not eat properly.
Williams emphasized the moment she remembers most was the dog's tear-stained face filled with confusion and hurt in his eyes, "He seemed to be crying."
The dog was quite scared at first until Williams offered him some food.
The veterinarian said Wilbur's condition was quite bad because he had been starved for quite a long time with some injuries to his body. Remarkably, he was diagnosed with a heartworm infection.
Williams said that although still scared, Wilbur seemed to realize he had been rescued and showed gratitude with a small tail wag in a more relaxed manner.
After being treated, the Tunica Humane Society posted a call to adopt Wilbur and shared his heartbreaking story on social media.
Many people offered to adopt Wilbur and donate money to him.
Fortunately, a local family adopted Wilbur and gave him the real home he deserved.
Williams revealed that the local family quickly came to pick up Wilbur and he accepted them.
They have four other large dogs who welcomed Wilbur home. Currently, they are living together very harmoniously and happily.
