A fat cat named Patches is moving into his new home this week after a Facebook post about his "admirably gluttonous body" went viral.
The Richmond Animal Care and Control recently put up a Facebook post to encourage cat lovers to adopt a gray and white kitty.
The post highlighted Patches, a 40.3-pound cat who was on a "very special" diet and exercise plan. Interested parties were asked to send in their home information and commit to helping Patches lose weight.
The shelter posted a video announcing that Patches had been adopted and was "leaving the building" just before 4 p.m.
