The scientific name of this bat is Ectophylla alba, and it is also the only representative of the genus Ectophylla. It has a striking appearance, white cilia, and a small body with a total length of only 3.7 cm-4.7 cm.
These cute white bats mainly live on the trunks and crowns of large trees, especially banana trees
It inhabits tropical rainforests in northern Nicaragua, eastern Costa Rica, western Panama, and eastern Honduras.

The beautiful little white bat lives in groups, usually consisting of about 6 to 10 individuals, with larger groups of up to 12 individuals. Its main diet consists of fruits and some plants.

In the colony, the larger bats will be responsible for protecting the smaller bats.
They will bite the leaves and curl up around the small bats to protect the entire bee colony from rain, sun, and natural enemies.
