In the award-winning category for Best Picture, it belongs to Oppenheimer; however, Pacino's approach baffled the audience.
During the ceremony, Al Pacino was observed bypassing the 10 nominations to announce the last award of the evening.
Instead of following the usual protocol of presenting each nominee before declaring the winner, Pacino swiftly jumped to the final award of the evening, foregoing This departure from the norm led to comparisons with past Oscar mishaps, such as the La La Land and Moonlight mix-up.
He said: "I have to go to the envelope for that, and I will, here it comes.
"My eyes see Oppenheimer."
Typically, presenters at the Oscars take the time to acknowledge each nominee, sometimes even featuring past winners to provide personalized reflections on their contributions.
However, Pacino deviated from this practice, prompting confusion as he swiftly opened the envelope and declared Oppenheimer as the winner.
The abruptness of Pacino's announcement contrasted sharply with the meticulous presentation of other awards throughout the evening, leaving onlookers baffled and perplexed about what happened at the Oscars.
One person said: I am sure everyone was in a rush to get to the after parties and more booze anyway. He just got them there sooner.
A second wrote: He just ended things quicker, we all know Oppenheimer was gonna win anyway. Congratulations to the cast and crew and well done sir!
While a third commented: There was no real mistake. He just rushed it. At least he read it right. They get these actors who are ancient for best picture, then wonder why it doesn't go smoothly
Another added: It's a big occasion. He should have rehearsed and respected his profession and fellow actors. It's not rocket science.
