In September 2020, the cat owner, known as Desirée Hobbins, 2, was missing her pet cat Zeppelin, known as Zeepy.
Desirée Hobbins was worried about her pet cat after Zeepy did not return to her home. She is not only putting up a poster for the beloved animal but also asking the neighbour living around her to find the zeepy.
Despite her efforts, Zeepy remained missing and has not returned to her. Then, Desirée Hobbins was heartbroken after discovering the post, which was shared on social media. A cat that looked like Zeppelin was found dead close by, according to this post.
Upon returning to her yoga practice, Desirée received information about Zeepy. One of her friends informed her that the dead cat was Zeepy.
After reading the post, which showed a cat dead-looking like Zeepy, Desirée Hobbin and some of her friends went to the scene.
There, she experienced pain after confirming that the deceased animal was Zeepy.
She told CKOM: ‘We think it’s him; we’ve looked at so many pictures and he has all the markings. I am sorry; we think it’s him.
She said, "They had him in a box wrapped in this velvet dress that my friend had in her car.
"I just looked at him and felt like Harry Potter when Cedric Diggory dies and they find him and his dad’s like, ‘My boy! My boy!’
After determining Zeepy was dead, Desirée Hobbin had him cremated at the Regina Humane Society.
She was extremely saddened by Zeepy's passing. Zeepy was then cremated to mourn the loss of her best friend.
One day in May 2021, MS Hobbins was surprised after receiving a message about Zeep news on Instagram.
The message from Regina Cat Rescue informs her that Zeppelin is in good health.
Zeepy was found by Regina Cat Rescue after checking the microchip
The staff of Regina Cat Rescue checked the microchip, and then they determined this cat was really Zeepy.
Desirée Hobbins then thought that they were wrong, but they still confirmed that this cat was Zeepy.
"I was like, they have the wrong cat, but then how do they even know Zeppelin's name? How did they find my contact information? But they had his picture and it was definitely Zeppelin.
After confirming that the cat was Zeppy, Desirée Hobbins yelled on the phone, "He was healthy and missing a tooth, but it was Zeppy. I just couldn’t believe it was him."
She found herself distraught, not recognizing Zeepy and suspecting that he had died.
Zeepy then returned to his house and was welcomed back into the loving arms of his owner.
After the mistaken death of Zeeepy, Regina Humane Society Director of Marketing and Public Relations Bill Thorn shared his thoughts about this story.
"I mean, they’re bringing the cat in; they say, 'That’s my cat; it died.' I don’t know if we would sort of doubt them and check it in case it’s not really their cat.
"Typically, people don’t bring a cat that isn’t theirs in for cremation."
