Two pit bulls rip apart an SUV causing $3,000 worth of damage while attempting to hunt a cat
Horrifying CCTV footage has captured the moment two pit bulls launched a brutal attack on a parked SUV in Southwest Jacksonville, Florida.
The incident, which occurred around 3:00 am last Thursday, left a homeowner, Christie Barr, with a huge repair bill.
The homeowner was unaware of the commotion until the following morning when she discovered the damage to her vehicle.
Security footage revealed the culprits - two pit bulls that had infiltrated her driveway in pursuit of a neighbor's cat.
The footage showed two pit bulls viciously tearing at the SUV while attempting to hunt a cat. It is believed that the two pit bulls were attempting to reach the cat hiding underneath.
The cat was reportedly able to escape unscathed, possibly taking refuge within the car's engine block.
After the incident, Barr, the owner of an SUV, contacted Jacksonville Sheriff's officers to investigate.
According to security footage, the cause of the damage was determined to be a canine duo, not vandalism.
As of now, the pit bulls remain unidentified, leaving Barr without her car and facing repair costs estimated at around $3,000.
Christie told Inside Edition: "On the video you could see both of them tugging on it, and they were tugging so hard that my car moved.
"Nobody believed me until they saw it on tape. It's just bizarre, nobody believed that dogs would do that."
Below the footage, many viewers echoed her sentiment, highlighting the importance of responsible pet ownership to prevent such incidents.
One person said: Yikes! those dogs need a big fence kennel, poor little cat, glad he's ok, and hope you get compensated for their damage.
A second wrote: one of the reasons why you should have a garage room to store your car to make your vehicle safe from things like this.
While a third commented: Once again, this is not a dog issue but rather an owner issue. Improper training/handling can cause any dog to be like this.
Someone else said: Literal killing machines and worse than a firearm. Guns don’t move and hunt by themselves.
Another added: Fiercely enforced and it would eliminate 99% of this unnecessary risk to society.
