The reason behind the ban was that Chef Mountain had a dispute with a customer regarding vegan options at his restaurant. This incident left him exasperated to the point of banning all plant-based diners.

The move was prompted by a disagreement between Mountain and vegans at the restaurant.

A young girl expressed her intention to the restaurant and reached out to Mountain to ask if there were vegan options. He responded by offering a selection of dishes such as gnocchi and vegetables, to order her requirements.

However, due to being busy catering a private party, Mountain forgot about the woman's request. Then, His sous chef reprimanded him due to  'not telling them about the vegan customer'.

After that, the young woman complained about her dissatisfaction with the sous chef and Mountain the following day with the lack of vegan options.

“My only option was the vegetable dish… it was okay but not that filling… and I was shocked to see it was $32,” she wrote in her complaint sent via a direct message.

The young woman expresses her perspective that restaurants should have the capability to cater to all dietary preferences, and the inability to provide proper plant-based meals shortcomings as a chef.

Mountain hit back at the woman directly and publicly announced his ban.

“Thanks for your negative review… please feel free to share your sh–ty experience and I look forward to not seeing you again,” he said in the message.

“How very childish. You and all your vegan mates can all go and enjoy your dishes in another venue. You are now banned.”

Fyre, a restaurant located in Connolly in the northern suburbs of the city, is owned by Mountain. The establishment offers a variety of dishes including steaks, fish, and risotto. Fyre was well-reviewed online with a rating on Facebook of 4.5 stars out of 5.
