Couple accidentally broke TV by mistakenly peeling off the screen

On TikTok, a couple shared a video showing how they accidentally broke their new TV while filming the unboxing process.

Kelsey and her partner had recently moved to Spain. The TikToker, who goes by the username @kumalashstudio, decided to treat themselves to a new Samsung TV, but the situation turned comical

The couple found themselves in a baffled situation when they accidentally broke the TV while unboxing it.

The couple peeled off what they thought was plastic.

The video went viral on TikTok and has the caption: "I feel like I can talk about this now since its been a while. Why was there not a sticker on the front that said this is not protective plastic? Do not remove." 

In the video, Kelsey explains that she purchased the TV assuming it would have a small protective plastic layer, like other screens, that needed to be removed before use.

However, the couple realized that they were actually peeling off the actual screen

In the video, Kelsey explained that the protective plastic and the actual screen really looked alike, which led to the mistaken assumption.

Kelsey admitted that the TV is no longer usable due to the damage

By the time Kelsey intervened, her husband had already removed a significant portion of the screen, leaving the TV in ruins.

Kelsey said in the video that she also pointed out that whole threads of people had accidentally made the same mistake, adding a touch of relief to their embarrassment.

After the incident, Kelsey called Samsung; fortunately, the company provided assistance and responded positively to replace the TV.

One person: That’s not the entire screen. It’s just the polarizing film on top. Stick it on a pair of glasses and you have a private tv, no one else can see.

A second wrote: design flaw. the screen should be underneath the frame so the edges aren't exposed, making them peelable.
