On their way to El Dorado County, California, where they reside, their car was hit by another vehicle traveling at a speed of 105 kph, resulting in a se.rious ac.cident.
After the a.ccident, the couple was relieved to find that they were both okay, but their relief was short-lived as they quickly realized that their 3-year-old dog, Roo, was missing.
The back window of the car had been blown out, leading the couple to fear the worst. Despite the daunting prospect of searching for their beloved pet amidst the wreckage, Duane crawled around while Stefanie called for help from the ambulance.
As they waited for the ambulance, the couple frantically searched the nearby area for their missing dog but with no success.
Duane, who was bl.eeding from the head, was taken to the hospital for his fra.ctured ster.num, while highway patrol and firefighters used thermal sensors to locate Roo.
Despite Stefanie being unharmed, she couldn't stay with her husband due to COVID-19 restrictions. Determined to find their beloved pet, Stefanie returned to the accident site to continue the search.
After being unable to locate Roo, Stefanie did not give up and turned to social media for help. Posting about Roo online, she hoped that someone would provide them with information on her whereabouts.
Luckily, someone saw the post and shared a tip on Facebook, which led the couple to a nearby neighborhood where they finally found Roo sitting under a tree.
Stefanie and Duane Lindsay's dog, Roo, suffered from road rash, soft tissue damage, and trauma, but the couple couldn't be more grateful to have her back, given the fact that she was thrown out of the back window of their moving car.
