Miracle Pogue, a 24-year-old nurse from Starkville, Mississippi, and her 85-year-old husband, Charles Pogue, are challenging norms by embarking on the journey to parenthood, despite a significant 61-year age gap.
Their unconventional love story began in 2019 when Miracle was working at a local launderette, and Charles, a retired real estate agent, frequented the establishment.
Despite the striking age difference, the pair quickly formed a strong bond, which eventually blossomed into romance. Charles proposed to Miracle in February 2020, a year after they first met.
Miracle's family's response to their relationship varied. While her mother and grandfather were supportive from the start, her father initially had reservations. However, after spending time with Charles and witnessing their love firsthand, he came around.
Reflecting on their connection, Miracle recalls Charles' charm and the ease with which they conversed, initially unaware of his exact age. Despite the revelation, their bond remained unshaken, with Miracle emphasizing that she loves Charles for who he is, regardless of age.
She explained: 'We had a good vibe going, he didn't make me feel weird. It was good conversation, he made me feel comfortable. I knew he was older but I didn't know his age exactly.
'When I found out I was in too deep, it was a couple of months in and I already had feelings for him. He was my baby and he wasn't going anywhere.
The couple tied the knot in July of the previous year, marking it as the happiest day of Miracle's life. Despite the joyous occasion, the couple faces challenges, particularly concerning starting a family.
Hoping to ensure Charles leaves behind a legacy, they are exploring options like IVF, though they've encountered skepticism from some medical professionals.
