Delays in the production of Euphoria's third season have left not only fans frustrated but also the cast members.
Euphoria was first aired in 2019 and has garnered a massive following and propelled actors like Sydney Sweeney and Jacob Elordi to global stardom.
While the first two seasons have been widely acclaimed, the start of filming for the highly anticipated third season remains unclear.
In February 2022, it was announced on social media that a third season was in the works. However, the SAG-AFTRA strikes of last year, which affected numerous TV shows and movies, caused further production delays.
While many of the leading cast members have been busy with other projects, Euphoria star Nika Kings, who is famous as Rue's mother in the film, had an unexpected revelation in her life during the wait for the premiere of Euphoria's third season.
In a recent stand-up show, King shared her frustration with the audience, revealing that she hasn't been able to pay her rent for the past six months due to the lack of work opportunities since Euphoria.
She said: "I know, it’s one of those things. People are like, 'We need season three', and I’m like b***h, I need season three. I haven’t paid my rent in six months."
In the show, King jokingly mentioned lead actor Zendaya's busy schedule, pleading for her return and highlighting the impact of the delays on her own career.
The actress expressed her genuine need for the third season, emphasizing the challenges she has faced in finding other acting opportunities.
She added: "Y’all laughing, and I’m serious. I haven’t booked nothing since Euphoria. This is some bulls**t".
Regarding the ongoing delays, it appears that script rewrites are a contributing factor. Creator Sam Levinson is known for his meticulous approach to writing, constantly revising the scripts to address current issues and explore existential questions about the state of humanity.
Colman Domingo, who plays Ali Muhammed in the show, acknowledged Levinson's dedication to capturing the essence of the present moment.
However, the extended wait for the third season has led to uncertainties among the cast members, including Jacob Elordi, who admitted to having limited information about the production timeline.
As fans eagerly await news of the season's commencement, the hope is that filming will resume soon to avoid drastic measures such as age-regression techniques for the actors.
