Why apple's new iPhone 15 is suffering from overheating issues

A potential explanation for the overheating problems affecting several models of the iPhone 15 has emerged from an Apple analyst.

Despite its recent global release, users have already reported issues with the brand-new device, which comes with a hefty price tag of $799 for the standard version. However, they are feeling frustrated as their phones are overheating.

One possible culprit behind this issue is the newly adopted charging ports.

The reason behind this is the adoption of new charging ports. Apple decided to replace its one-of-a-kind lightning cables with USB-C ports for charging AirPods and Apple Watch directly from the phone's battery.

However, some experts caution against using Android USB-C chargers that users may already own to charge their new iPhone 15s, as it can lead to overheating. This is because USB-C cables designed for Android devices or bundled with them may not be fully compatible.

Another theory comes from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who believes that the phone's lightweight construction may contribute to the overheating issues.

In his assessment, Kuo stated, "My survey indicates that the iPhone 15 Pro series overheating issues are unrelated to TSMC’s advanced 3nm node."

He further elaborated,  "The primary cause is more likely the compromises made in the thermal system design to achieve a lighter weight, such as the reduced heat dissipation area and the use of a titanium frame, which negatively impacts thermal efficiency."

Kuo anticipates that Apple will address this technical issue "through software updates," although improvements might not be implemented until the company "lowers processor performance."

Despite these insights, many users continue to report overheating problems with Apple's new iPhone 15.

One user joked: Apple on fire since releasing the 15. Literally

One person said: Yup. My iPhone overheats every time my little boy plays with it in just a few minutes. It’s less than 2 years but battery health is down to 88% and I don’t play games.

A second wrote: Android has had USB-C connectors since 2015, and never had an overheating problem from using them. It has to be Apple's software.

A third said: So they're going to have to nerf the performance of the device because they scrimped on heat dissipation (to save themselves more money) and to try to make it lighter (something that wasn't asked for or needed) .. I sweat every iPhone just gets worse each time.

Someone else said: Not only iPhone 15 all phones my iPhone 7+ also get heated every day I can’t even hold my phone sometimes.
