Family reveals final words of dad who dies firework incident during Fourth of July party

In the heartbreaking incident, Allen Ray McGrew tragically lost his life on Independence Day after a firework he placed on his head exploded, causing fatal injuries.

Harrowing footage captures the moments leading up to McGrew's death. Dressed as Uncle Sam, he lovingly addressed his son Hunter and wife Paige just before the incident occurred.

The incident occurred on July 4th at 10:30 p.m. Authorities responded to an emergency call from Cottonwood Drive, Summerville, California, regarding the incident of Allen Ray McGrew. 

Initially thinking McGrew was playfully showcasing the firework, Paige, his wife, realized he had already lit it.

Despite warnings, the firework detonated, causing immediate collapse and fatal head injuries. McGrew was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dorchester County Sheriff's department at 11:10 p.m.

After the incident, Paige believed that Allen's death was not due to alcohol

In the interview with The Post and Courier, Paige McGrew shed light on the events leading up to the tragedy ogf her husband.

Talking to The Post and Courier, She revealed that alcohol was involved in the incident, although Allen was not a regular drinker.

Allen Ray McGrew's family expressed their emotions after his death.

The McGrew family also refutes any untrue portrayal of McGrew following his tragic death.

The McGrew family, amidst overwhelming attention after a tragic event, adamantly refutes any portrayal of Allen as a "drunken fool." 

They claimed: " McGrew as a “drunken fool” couldn’t be further from the truth

His son Hunter, devastated by the incident, described the family as traumatized after the death of his dad.

Hunter express to The Post:   “We’re traumatized."

While Paige expressed his patriotism and love for his family. She also shared his final words of affection, describing her as his rock and Hunter as his heart

Paige McGrew said: "He loved this country and cherished every opportunity to celebrate,"

“He was a genuine, good person and he loved life,” Paige McGrew told the Post and Courier.

“He worked hard and he played hard.”

Just moments before the incident, Allen embraced his wife and son, declaring, "You are my rock, and you are my heart," a poignant memory now cherished by his family.

Paige clarified that Allen Ray McGrew saw the Fourth of July celebration as a moment to cherish family milestones, including Hunter's engagement and upcoming wedding.
