A furious gamer took a flight in the middle of the night to attack their online rival after a feud in the game ArcheAge.
In fact, gamers often have very intense relationships with each other, especially when they are competing in online games.
Edward Kang, a 20-year-old gamer, has been accused of flying across the country from New Jersey to Florida in the middle of the night to confront and attack his online rival.
The incident occurred after a dispute in the online game ArcheAge.
According to the police reports, Kang booked an overnight flight from Newark Liberty International Airport to Jacksonville International Airport on Friday, June 21 st.
He then visited a hardware store on the following day and purchased a hammer and a flashlight before sneaking to the victim's property in Fernandina Beach, Florida in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The victim's stepfather was awakened by his stepson's screams for help and found Kang, dressed in black with a mask and gloves, struggling with the victim while holding the hammer.
The victim and his stepfather were able to restrain Kang until the police arrived at the scene, where they found a significant amount of blood in the hallway.
Though the victim suffered severe head injuries, his condition is not considered life-threatening.
On the other hand, Kang is now facing attempted murder and burglary charges and is being held at the Nassau County Jail.
When questioned by the police, Kang admitted that he had traveled to Florida to confront the victim, whom he referred to as a "bad person online."
He also asked the deputy how much time he would get for breaking and entering and assaulting, indicating his awareness of the gravity of his actions.
Sheriff Bill Leeper of the Nassau County Sheriff's Office described the case as "a weird one," emphasizing the unusual and extreme nature of Kang's behavior.
“When the suspect was asked why he did what he did, the suspect stated that he is a bad person online, talking about the victim,”
“In addition, the suspect asked our deputy how much time in jail do you get for breaking and entering and assault.
“I would say, Mr. Kang, it’s gonna be a long time before you play video games again,” Bill Leeper said in a statement.
The Dua Lipa fan, named Kenzo, shared his home address online and told other Dua Lipa fans to go to his house. A Nicki Minaj fan, named Corales, then flew from Los Angeles to Phoenix, Arizona to go to Kenzo's house.
Corales recorded the confrontation with Kenzo and posted it online, saying Nicki Minaj is better than Cardi B.
Kenzo felt uncomfortable and criticized Corales for encouraging others to attack his family because they disagreed about the singers.
The situation became serious enough that Kenzo had to call the police. Corales was not arrested, but both fan groups criticized the incident.
Kenzo was criticized for sharing his address, and Corales was criticized for flying to Kenzo's house just to argue about singers on social media.
