In a viral video, a Gen Z man named Larz has shared the reason why he refuses to stay in contact with his family because they have no followers on social media platforms.
Larz, a social media influencer with over 300,000 Instagram followers, has faced intense backlash after a video of him and a fellow TikToker being interviewed on the Dr. Phil show resurfaced.
During the interview, Larz boldly stated that he no longer speaks to his family because they are 'irrelevant.'
When asked why he doesn't talk to his family, Larz explained, 'I mean I don't talk to my family, they're irrelevant. They don't have followers on social media.'
However, the audience was more outraged when Larz said his family members were "irrelevant" because they didn't have significant social media followings.
Then go live with your followers, one user said.
Very professional and humble and honest person, the second user mocked.
All I can say for his family is..Winner Winner Chicken Dinner. What a little twerp. Wrapped up in his own delusions of grandeur, the third user commented.
They don’t give a damn about you, bro. Having followers doesn’t mean a fuhking thing. As much as you and all your little delusional Gen Zeroes think. And no that isn’t a typo. Zero is how much they contribute to society, another user wrote.
Why is it that every guy who wants to be a famous internet person has a Minecraft block for a hairstyle, someone commented.
To this heated backlash, Larz defended his stance, arguing that the reason people were upset was because they lacked relevance and thus couldn't understand his perspective.
Dr. Phil attempted to come to the family's defense, suggesting that the bigger the star, the smaller the ego.
However, Larz remained firm in his position, unwavering in his belief that his family's lack of social media following rendered them irrelevant to him.
In a 2022 interview on the Australian radio show Kyle and Jackie O, Larz was asked if he no longer speaks to his family, to which he bluntly replied that he stopped talking to his family so long ago.
When asked who he does communicate with instead, Larz disclosed that he talks frequently with Cardi B over Instagram direct messages.
He explained that they had connected on Twitter back in 2015 and have maintained an ongoing dialogue since then.
Larz admitted that he thinks he's more famous than everyone else. Because of this, he won't talk to people who don't have as many social media followers as he does.
Larz, who is from a large family with five brothers and four sisters, said he has blocked them all on Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat, and won't speak to them until they amass the same level of social media fame as him.
"If they had followers they would be here right now," he stated.
Larz's last Instagram post dates back to 2018, and his TikTok account has since been removed, leading some to question the extent of his online influence.
