Patrick from Patrick's World is a perfect example of a creative individual who thought outside the box. He utilized traditional German sausages, connected them to a set of wires, and incorporated sound equipment to construct a fully functional piano.
Despite the fact that Patrick's blog, Patrick's World, is dedicated to wasting time, it proved to be a source of creativity as he invented what is likely the world's first and possibly only sausage piano.
Back in January 2019, Patrick uploaded a video of his sausage piano to the internet, but it has only recently resurfaced, capturing the interest of many online users. In the video, we witness Patrick testing his latest invention, the Bockwurstklavier, or Bockwurst Piano, made with a traditional German sausage composed of ground pork and veal.
Comprising of 10 sausage keys, the piano operates via wires that connect each key to a circuit board and other sound equipment. Whenever Patrick touches a sausage key while simultaneously making contact with the background equipment, the "machine" produces the sound of a piano.
The keys are functional both individually and collectively, allowing for the playing of full chords and multiple tunes, as demonstrated in the video. As long as contact is made with other electrical equipment, the sound is produced when the sausage keys are touched.
With only 10 keys, the sausage piano falls short of a full octave, which would require 12 keys including 7 natural and 5 sharp or flat keys. However, this limitation does not seem to affect the quality of its sound. Despite its unconventional appearance, the sausage piano produces a remarkably realistic piano sound.
The bizarre yet functional instrument has gained popularity online, with many applauding the creativity behind it. Some have even joked about the possibility of a Leberkäse version of the sausage piano, referencing another type of meat product commonly found in Germany.
