There is always the possibility that the human baby will react negatively to the dog's presence, crying whenever it comes near. Similarly, the dog may not take kindly to the new addition to the family, barking or growling every time it sees the tiny human.
Teddy the Husky, along with his Malamute siblings Phil and Niko, and his feline brother Milo, who thinks he's a Malamute too, all share a home with their human parents and sister Amelia.
However, before the introduction, their parents took the necessary precautions and gave each pet time to settle down. They decided to introduce the dogs individually to avoid overwhelming the baby and minimize the risk of injury among the pets.
Prior to the introduction, the parents allowed the dogs to sniff the baby's clothes and hats, as they had already sensed their mother's pregnancy and the forthcoming changes in their home and lives. In addition, the father brought out the baby's stroller, which the dogs inspected before sniffing.
Teddy, the youngest of all the dogs, hadn’t gone through the experience of meeting a new baby, unlike Phil and Niko who had already met their sister Amelia. As a result, their parents chose to introduce Teddy to his baby brother first.
Amazingly, Teddy seemed to understand that he needed to remain calm while beside his brother. He hopped onto the couch, lay down beside his father, and gave him a few licks on the face. However, when it came to the baby, Teddy simply gazed at him and sniffed him.
However, if his parents have faith in the baby, perhaps there is no cause for concern after all.
