According to the US Coast Guard, Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman, 19, were among the five individuals who tragically lost their lives in an instant when the OceanGate submersible experienced a "catastrophic implosion" approximately 1,600ft from the bow of the Titanic.
Three other victims included OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, French Navy veteran Paul-Henri (PH) Nargeolet, and British billionaire Hamish Harding.
According to reports, the submersible carrying five tourists disappeared less than two hours after sailing in the deep sea.
After days of extensive searching in the Atlantic Ocean, the US Coast Guard announced that OceanGate's Titan submersible experienced "implosion" and endured a "catastrophic failure." It has been confirmed that five passengers aboard the submersible have tragically lost their lives.
According to the report, OceanGate said: "These men were true explorers who shared a distinct spirit of adventure, and a deep passion for exploring and protecting the world’s oceans. Our hearts are with these five souls and every member of their families during this tragic time. We grieve the loss of life and joy they brought to everyone they knew."
The youngest among the five victims of the Titanic submarine's tragic "implosion" was a British university student. According to his heartbroken aunt, he had a deep fear of the trip and joined the crew to please his dad for Father's Day.
Azmeh Dawood told NBC News that he 'wasn't very up for it but felt compelled to please his father, who was interested in the 1912 shipwreck."I am thinking of Suleman, who is 19, in there, just perhaps gasping for breath... It's been crippling, to be honest".
She continued: "Suleman had a sense that this was not okay and he was not very comfortable about doing it.
"But it was a Father's Day thing. It was a bonding experience and he wanted the adventure of a lifetime just like his father did.
"His father wanted it and that was Sule all the way - he'd do anything for anyone."
Azmeh added that the Pakistani businessman Shazada had been interested in the Titanic since he was a child. This is not only his wish, but also his biggest dream.
Azmeh supposed that: "For Shahzada he fulfilled his dream in an extraordinary way."He's become part of the Titanic legend. I mean, in those terms, it could be nothing greater."
