An influencer has faced severe backlash after paying a non-swimmer $20 to take a risky jump into a lake even when she couldn't swim.
The influencer in question, known as Kick streamer Natalie Reynolds, has been criticized for persuading a stranger, allegedly unaware of swimming, to jump into a lake in Texas.
The video footage shared on Kick shows the influencer walking away as the woman cries for help.
Reportedly, Reynolds, who has over 4.8 million subscribers on YouTube, paid the woman $20 to help her locate an RFID scanner during a "Scavenger Hunt" event organized by Paul 'Ice Poseidon'.
Reynolds said, "Do you know where the RFID scanner is? Because I'm trying to find this RFID scanner, and I have to go kayaking."
"Ice Poseidon told me you swim in the water. You should jump in the water right now and start swimming to find it."
"Can you do that? Just jump in the water and help me find it. I'll pay you $20. Yeah, that's a good deal."
According to Sportskeeda, the 25-year-old influencer was asked to leave the area.
Reynolds claimed she couldn't assist the woman and explained that she was instructed to leave and not film.
She questioned whether her actions were truly bad and mentioned that the woman wanted to jump in and skinny dip with her.
The video ends with Reynolds and her friends driving away from the scene while an ambulance arrives.
Reynolds later defended herself in another livestream, stating that she left following the instructions of her team. She claimed that the incident would be forgotten within a week.
Reynolds' actions have been criticized as disrespectful and irresponsible, particularly when it comes to the safety and well-being of others.
Remarkably, this incident has attracted the attention of authorities, and an investigation and possible legal action may be pursued to ensure accountability and justice.
I love how everyone is slamming the woman who jumped in, but she was mentally ill. She was definitely told multiple times that she couldn’t swim and the streamer still tried to make her jump in the water telling her it wasn’t that deep. She needs to just be off the internet, one user said.
If this wasn’t a set up video, behavior like this needs to be punishable by law, the second user said.
It's unfortunate that such a beautiful and kind and talented lady had to go through such a heartbreaking experience, I hope the other woman who jumped into the lake is doing well also, the third user commented.
The person jumping in the lake knowing they can't swim has to take more accountability here, another wrote.
Isn’t that… attempted murder and murder with intent or something!?!?? Someone wrote.
