The divorce between Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum has become more heated.
Dewan claims that Tatum is trying to keep millions of dollars from her that he earned from the popular Magic Mike movies.
Tatum's financial actions are being questioned, and it's unclear how much they are truly worth together.
During their divorce proceedings, things have become more difficult between Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum.
Dewan's representative, Samantha Spector, said in court that Tatum made a complicated system of different businesses and partnerships to hide the money from her.
While Dewan has received some funds, the division of child support and other assets has been put on hold until the issue of Magic Mike earnings can be resolved.
According to Dewan's representatives, she should get some of the money because she and Tatum were married when the Magic Mike franchise started.
They believe she has a right to a share of the earnings
During the court hearing, Spector emphasized the significance of the Magic Mike intellectual property and its associated proceeds, referring to it as "the elephant in the room.".
Spector mentioned that they have been trying to resolve the case for a long time, but the Magic Mike matter keeps causing problems.
She also pointed out that the franchise could be worth billions of dollars.
Channing Tatum got involved with Magic Mike in 2012 when he acted in the first movie, which was directed by Steven Soderbergh.
He and his ex-wife Dewan helped finance the film together, and it made around $167 million. After that, the franchise grew to include two more movies, a live show, and a tour.
Dewan claims that Tatum deliberately used various types of businesses and partnerships to reduce and hide the value of the Magic Mike franchise and its earnings, which she believes should be shared between them.
However, Tatum's lawyers disagree with these allegations and state that he hasn't denied Dewan her portion of the shared assets and income.
They argue that Tatum has actively worked on improving the Magic Mike intellectual property even after their separation, which they believe entitles him to a separate share in it.
They have a 10-year-old daughter named Everly.
Since their separation, both of them have started new relationships.
Tatum is now engaged to actor Zoë Kravitz, whom he met while working on one of her movies. On the other hand, Dewan is engaged to Steve Kazee, and they have a four-year-old son named Callum.
Additionally, Dewan is currently expecting their second child.
The dispute over the earnings from the Magic Mike franchise adds another layer of complexity to Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum's divorce proceedings.
