The divorce between Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum has become bitter as Jenna publicly criticizes Channing and asks for half of the money he made from Magic Mike.
In a recent court filing on May 8, Jenna's lawyers requested a separate trial to determine the exact portion of the franchise's earnings she should receive.
Once they reach an agreement on this issue, they can continue with the main process of getting a divorce and dealing with the rest of their possessions.
Magic Mike, released in 2012, became a major success, spawning sequels, a reality TV show, and even an attraction in Las Vegas.
Channing Tatum, who starred in and produced the film, has gained significant recognition for his role.
However, Jenna's lawyers argue that since the franchise was initiated during their marriage, she deserves a 50% share.
Jenna Dewan's lawyers also say that Channing Tatum moved some of the money he earned from Magic Mike to someone else without telling Jenna or getting her permission.
They argue that Channing, with the assistance of his business manager and associates, created a complex network of LLCs, holding companies, and partnerships to conceal and diminish the value of the Magic Mike intellectual property and its licensing income, which should be considered community property.
However, Channing Tatum's attorneys disagree with the proposal of having a separate legal proceeding specifically for the Magic Mike assets.
In a statement, they clarified that Channing never withheld Jenna's rightful portion of shared assets and income.
They highlight that Jenna had full access to financial records throughout their marriage and separation, and they have kept her informed about the financial details related to Magic Mike.
Jenna firmly believes she should receive half of the money earned from Magic Mike, while Channing denies any misconduct and claims to have been open about their finances.
He firmly refutes Dewan's claim that he colluded with third parties, categorically stating that these allegations are entirely false.
Apart from the disagreement over the profits of Magic Mike, there are other unresolved matters between Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum.
These include the division of their assets, spousal support, and child support.
Channing Tatum holds the view that Jenna Dewan's request for spousal support is not suitable, as he believes she is capable of financially supporting herself.
He further discloses that he has already given Dewan a substantial amount of cash assets as part of their divorce settlement.
Tatum assures that Dewan will receive a fair portion of their shared property, residuals, royalties, and income from other investments.
Additionally, he mentions that Dewan will also receive additional assets once the remaining estate is divided between them.
