Johnny Depp avoids eye contact with ex-wife Amber Heard in court for one little-known reason

The defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard was one of the most remarkable cases in history.

Throughout the proceedings, Depp's behavior was noticed by many when he almost entirely avoided making eye contact with Heard.

Many commentators speculated that Depp's avoidance of eye contact was due to feelings of guilt or avoidance. However, the true reason was quite different.

Vasquez then explained that Depp had promised Heard that he would never look into her eyes again.

At their final meeting in 2016, Depp had stated clearly: "We will never see each other again. You will never see my eyes again." 

Therefore, Depp did not make eye contact with Heard once during the entire defamation trial.

However, Heard denied that this was the reason Depp avoided looking at her. She said "As far as I know, he couldn't look at me."

But Vasquez quickly dismissed: "No, he didn't want to look at you."

Depp's behavior during the trial sparked a lot of debate in the public discourse.

Some felt that his constant downward gaze and eye avoidance were a concerning sign. Eventually, though, Depp won the case and was awarded $15 million in damages.
