A male model has recently made headlines after alleging that he was fired from the highly prestigious Met Gala for the surprising reason that his "good looks upstaged Kylie Jenner" during the previous year's ceremony.
Eugenio Casnighi, an Italian model, took to TikTok to share his story which sparked debate over his confidence.
In a TikTok video, Casnighi revealed his termination from the Met Gala, showing a photo of himself standing alongside Kylie Jenner at the previous year's event.
To start his video, he asked mockingly, "Remember me?" as he pointed out the iconic image that captured the public's attention.
The clip included a flashback to Emma Chamberlain's interview with Blackpink's Jennie Kim, where Casnighi was seen in the background fulfilling his duties, leaving the person filming in awe of his remarkable appearance.
The camera momentarily shifted focus from Chamberlain to Casnighi's face, highlighting his 'good looks.'
Casnighi explained that he had been unable to address the situation earlier due to a non-disclosure agreement (NDA).
According to the 26-year-old male model, the Met Gala organizers blamed him for attracting excessive attention, stating, "You made it about yourself, so we don't want to work with you anymore."
The model candidly disclosed that he was informed that he was cut off from future involvement because of his viral fame from the previous year.
Casnighi shared his observations about the nature of the Met Gala and its expectations.
He pointed out that the event and the unnamed company behind it specifically chose models to work the red carpet to garner attention.
Casnighi claimed that he was personally selected because the organizers preferred him over other candidates.
However, when photographs were taken of the actual celebrities, such as Kylie Jenner, he inevitably ended up in the frame due to his proximity.
"But when people took pictures of the actual celebrity, like Kylie Jenner and was next to her, of course I ended up in the picture," Casnighi said.
They could have photoshop him out if they was so press about it. So I don't think that was the reason they fired him, one user said.
