In Punjab, India, a man has captured the attention of the internet by placing a replica of the Statue of Liberty on the roof of his house.
Recently, he finally revealed the exact reason why he did that, capturing the public attention.
In a viral video uploaded on X by Alok Jain, the statue can be seen being set up with the help of a crane and a group of men.
The statue, designed by sculptor Manjit Singh Gill from Ghal Kalan village, stands at an impressive 18 feet tall and is made of fiberglass.
Although it falls short of the original Statue of Liberty's height of 305 feet, it still catches the eye and has become a talking point in the community.
Some jokingly asked for the location so they could save money and time on a trip to the real Statue of Liberty in New York.
Others speculated that the owner of the house might start charging people to enter his home now that it has such a unique attraction.
Interstingly, one commenter shared a cultural observation from their research in Punjab.
They mentioned that many families in the region install water tanks shaped like airplanes, the Statue of Liberty, or Big Ben as a way to signify that a family member has moved abroad, even if they are simply working as a taxi driver.
This suggests that displaying symbols of foreign countries has become a trend to showcase connections to the wider world.
The owner of the house, Gurmeet Singh Brar, explained the reasoning behind his decision to install the Statue of Liberty replica.
He revealed that he moved to the US in 2006 and started a successful transport business there, while his family already had a business in India established by his late father.
Brar expressed his admiration for the US, calling it the "most powerful country in the world," and shared his dream of settling there.
The replica statue was considered a tribute to America and symbolized the opportunities and success that Brar and his family have achieved since moving to the US.
Brar said their business did well and they had a happy life in America.
Even though they live overseas, he visits Punjab often and wants a symbol on his house to show their connection to the US.
