David, a regular at the café, expressed his astonishment on TikTok over the exorbitant charges added to his cup of coffee on this public holiday.

In a viral video on TikTok, David, known as @thebearded86 shared his disbelief at the cost of his medium almond milk cappuccino, which totaled a staggering $8.18. While anticipating a holiday surcharge, he was shocked to find a 15% increase along with an additional fee for card usage.

He said: 'Don't get me wrong I know almond milk costs extra but I think 15 per cent is excessive.'

In the footage, David also admitted that this price was excessive.

The video quickly went viral and sparked debate on social media.

In the commercial selection, many express  their dismay at the steep holiday surcharges. Comments ranged from sarcastic remarks about imported coffee to suggestions of finding better deals at convenience stores.

However,  some defended the café's pricing, highlighting the increased wages and operational costs on public holidays. They emphasized that such surcharges are necessary for businesses to remain profitable.

This isn't the first time tourists have been charged incredible prices for food and drinks while on holiday.

Previously, a couple was furious after being charged $572 for two drinks and squid.

Amber, a 25-year-old assistant manager from New York, and her friend Aubrey were stunned when they were charged $572 for two drinks and squid after a leisurely day at DK Oyster.

The total cost of the couple's meal amounted to $572 for two drinks and squid.

Despite confirming their order prices with the server, they were appalled to discover the inflated charges on their receipt.

Amber recounted her dissatisfaction with the food, describing the fried calamari as rubbery and flavorless, while her friend's king crab legs were overly salty. Their disappointment only grew upon seeing the extortionate prices listed on the receipt.

Following the incident, the couple vowed never to return to the holiday island again.
