According to reports, Dr. Daniel Kenigsberg bought the half-acre strip at 51 Sky Top Terrace in Connecticut in 1991.
The land was situated near New Haven; the location held sentimental value as it was close to his childhood home, which his father acquired in 1953 for $5,000.
However, Daniel was shocked after a close friend informed him that some building work had begun on his land.
During the Long Island trip, Daniel visited the site and everything suddenly became a nightmare when he discovered the $1.5 million house was under construction on his land.
In the interview with CT Insider, he said: "I said, ‘I own that and I never sold it'. I was shocked."
According to official records, the land was sold to 51 Sky Top Partners LLC for $350,000 in October 2022. However, Dr. Kenigsberg asserts that he had no involvement in the sale and was unaware of it.
According to reports, Daniel filed a lawsuit against the company on nine counts, including trespass, statutory theft, and unfair trade practices. The lawsuit seeks to invalidate the land sale and demands $2 million in damages.
After the incident, Dr. Kenigsberg was reported to have demanded the removal of any structures and materials from the property to restore it to its original condition.
Additionally, the lawsuit alleges that a person named 'Daniel Kenigsberg' from Johannesburg, South Africa, forged a power of attorney to steal the property. This power of attorney was purportedly granted by Anthony Monelli of Trumbull, Connecticut.
Representatives from 51 Sky Top Partners have claimed that they were also victims of the scam. They stated,We learned to our shock and dismay that Kenigsberg, had not, in fact, sold the property to us".
They blamed the negligence of various real estate professionals involved in the transaction for failing to detect the fraud.
