However, Rife's Netflix special received significant criticism for an offensive joke.

He suggested that he should 'start the show with domestic violence' to ensure the rest of his show goes 'smooth sailing'.

He further narrated a story about a waitress with a black eye, making light of her situation. This flippant approach to domestic violence alarmed fans online, leading to a wave of disgust.

Unfazed by the backlash, Rife addressed the controversy in his latest sold-out show at the Hollywood Bowl.

During his set, he joked about a range of topics, from drugs to insomnia, and even made jokes about transgender people.

His response to the possibility of being canceled was dismissive, stating, "What am I gonna do? Get canceled? Cool, I’ll do another Bowl show, awesome."

Rife's nonchalant attitude towards the reaction to his previous jokes was evident when he said, "You know that’s not a real punishment… nothing happens.

Prisons a punishment." Later in the show, while engaging with the audience, he spoke to a man who had been to prison for assault. He then asked the man’s date if she was okay, before stating, "Guys, I’m kidding. Domestic violence is not funny, ever, ever, on any comedy special ever."

Rife's response to the initial controversy was equally dismissive.

He posted a picture of himself on Instagram with the caption, “If you've ever been offended by a joke I've told - here's a link to my official apology."

The link, labeled ‘Tap to solve your issue', led to a Medical Shop page for 'Special Needs Helmets'. This response further solidified his unapologetic stance on the situation.

As the comedian continues to joke about the situation, it is clear that he is doubling down on his controversial humor.

This deep dive into the backlash against Matt Rife's jokes provides a comprehensive look at the ongoing controversy.

On social media, fans criticized Matt Rife for doubling down on his 'insane' response to an offensive joke from his Netflix.

One person said: When he first blew up he was pretty funny - great crowd work but as far as actual jokes, he kinda sucks. I do, too...but so does he.

A second wrote: Feels more like he is saying edgy stuff to be edgy but misses the whole part of how to deliver a joke that is actually good.

While a third commented: Good, he shouldn’t. Keep doubling down. I don’t know what he said, but f-ck ‘em.

Someone else said:  Good! It's freaking standup. Comedy has been ruined by simps of society. Waaa waaa waaa. I wish George Carlin were alive to tell everyone to absolutely unequivocally go F themselves.
