Lake Cetina, also known as The Eye of the Earth is a fairy-tale vision that nature has given to Croatia. This unique lake is the source of the Cetina River.
Originating in a small stream in Milasevo near the small village of Cetina, 7 km north of Vrlika, it is the most fertile river in Dalmatia. Its water flows at the foot of Mount Dinara, the highest massif in Croatia.
The river flowing out of the cave is about 115 meters deep and about 15 meters in diameter. The water quality is crystal clear and is the basic source of domestic water in the area. It is surrounded by little villages, both historically and archaeologically important.
Since 1972, this place has been a protected hydrological monument. This is a place that travel enthusiasts cannot ignore to appreciate the beauty of nature.
The "Eye of the Earth" earned its name due to its uncanny resemblance to eyes with shades of blue and turquoise.
The aerial view of this natural limestone mountain offers visitors one of the most breathtaking and exceptional sights in the region, leaving them awe-struck by its majestic beauty.
Lake Cetina's considerable depth attracts thrill-seeking divers. While its clear blue waters provide excellent habitat for many flora and fauna, not only attracting tourists.
The water in Lake Cetina is very cold, not exceeding 7 degrees Celsius, while the summer air temperature usually reaches 40 degrees Celsius. If you want to explore the lake bed, you'll need a neoprene wetsuit.
On the other hand, the sea water is crystal clear, allowing visitors to not only dive into the water but also see the abyss under their feet, which can be both shocking and exhilarating.
