In the digital age, nothing is more important than your personal identification number (PIN).
This four-digit code gives you access to your bank account, allowing you to make instant transactions.
However, this convenience also creates opportunities for hackers and thieves.
One of the easiest ways they can steal money is by guessing someone's PIN. Therefore, it is important to have a PIN that is unique and difficult to guess.
Even so, some people choose simplicity over security, choosing PIN combinations that are easy to remember.
This choice makes them vulnerable to theft. In addition to banking activities, PINs are used to secure devices such as phones, safes, and lockers.
If your PIN is common enough, those assets may also be at risk.
Nick Berry of DataGenetics revealed an analysis of the most common PINs.
The top ten most frequently used PINs follow patterns that should be avoided to ensure security.
Surprisingly, the most common PIN is 1234, a sequence that follows numerical order.
Other common PINs include repeated numbers like 7777, 1111, or 0000. These are easily guessable and should be avoided.
The most common PINS:-
According to the study, the top 20 most common PINs account for approximately 26.83% of the total 3.4 million PINs.
The study reveals that 8068 is the least used PIN. It points out that this PIN appears only 25 times across 3.4 million PINs.
Additionally, the 20 least common PINs showed few discernible patterns, except that none of them begin with the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5.
Least common PINS:
Berry cautioned against using the numbers on his list of the least common PINs, especially 8068.
He also suggested that PINs set by birthdays are less risky but should still be avoided."
By taking these precautions, you can significantly reduce the risk of falling victim to cyberattacks and theft.
Stay vigilant and protect your PIN—your security depends on it.
