If you are a travel enthusiast, have you heard about the hidden rooms on planes? However, I believe that no one has knowledge of these secret rooms because passengers are banned from ever seeing inside them.
You didn't hear wrong; there are secret rooms that really exist inside long-haul flights, but passengers are banned from ever seeing them.
According to CNN, the secret rooms on long-haul flights are provided to flight staff to ensure they have the best chance of getting some sleep.
A source from CNN revealed that these secret rooms include padded mattresses, linens, lights, and air conditioning. In newer planes, the bedrooms are often above the main cabin, whereas older planes have them closer to the hold.
However, passengers never see these rooms because they are always well-hidden from view.
In the interview with CNN, Susannah Carr, flight attendant, who regularly flies on Boeing 787, 777, and 767, express her experience to secret room.
“It’s a little bit like Disney – we keep the magic behind closed doors"
Carr also reveals that these rooms is secure and that occasionally, passengers mistake the door for a bathroom.
She explained: “I won’t go too far into how we access it – it’s secure, I will say that. Occasionally we have people that think it’s a bathroom door and they try to open it, but we just show them the way to the actual restroom instead.”
While the hidden rooms are comfortable, they may feel cramped for anyone taller than about 6 feet.
Some aircraft don’t have full beds but only recliners shrouded by thick curtains that block out light and some noise. “We’ve had passengers open the curtains, looking for something or thinking they’d be going into the galley, so it’s not necessarily the best rest,” Carr said.
Karoliina, a flight attendant, explained the resting rules on long-haul flights to CNN.
Karoliina revealed that 10 percent of the time on a flight longer than six hours is allocated for resting, which amounts to about an hour and a half.
This rest period is crucial, as Finnair flight attendant Karoliina Åman explains. During this time, flight attendants do not attend to passenger calls; they focus solely on resting.
The video was captioned: "Do you know about this secret room where your pilots and flight attendants sleep?"
In the footage, a flight attendant showcased the crew's sleeping quarters on a luxury plane.
A flight attendant was seen opening the door to the entire secret room on the plane where pilots and flight attendants can actually sleep.
In the video, a flight attendant revealed that these rooms are called crew rest areas and on this Dreamliner, it's located behind the cockpit, up hidden stairs that lead to a small room.
Inside are two beds with curtains that can be pulled around them for additional privacy.
In the comment selection, viewers were amazed by the hidden luxury of a secret room.
One person said: Flight attendant here, that's for the flight crew, us cabin crew have a larger one in the back of the dreamliner.
A second wrote: I thought it was illegal to show because of the crews safety??? Cool to see though!
While a third commented: That's awesome... I'd rather have well rested pilots ob rotation ,then one half awake flying the whole time...
Another added: I would pay so much in bribe money to stay there during the flight.
Those small stairs immediately gave me anxiety. Another added.
Someone else said: this is where the pilots cheats on their wives.
These secret rooms, equipped with essential amenities, are a crucial part of long-haul flights, ensuring that the staff remains well-rested and ready to serve.
