In the footage, he explained: "They claim it's just a crisp wafer, but what they actually use to make it might surprise you.'

He added: 'Some KitKats get broken while they're being made, and instead of throwing them out, the company crushes them up and adds sugar – and that is what's in the inside of a KitKat bar.'

"It's literally crushed up KitKats," he said.

In 2018, the BBC's Inside the Factory program aired an episode delving into Nestle's KitKat production in the UK, elucidating the manufacturing process. Quality assurance technicians isolate imperfect bars, those not fully covered or with air bubbles, setting them aside rather than disposing of them.

Subsequently, these subpar bars are ground into a paste and utilized to fill the next batch of KitKats.

The viral video left many people gobsmacked, as it became evident that numerous KitKat enthusiasts were unaware of how KitKats are made.

One person said: Wafer came first. It's still a wafer whether prepared fresh from scratch or a percentage of crushed-up Kit Kats that didn't make it through the system in one perfect piece.

A second said: The crushed Kit Kats actually make up the filling between the wafers, not the wafers themselves.

A third commented: KitKat is made of crushed KitKat” Ah yes, the floor is made out of cemented floor.

Someone else wrote: Kit Kat CLAIMS it’s a crisp wafer But it’s actually a crunched-up crisp wafer. My mind is blown.
