Recently, iPhone users have discovered a similar SOS symbol on their devices, unlocking a life-saving trick that has left millions baffled.

Apple enthusiasts might have noticed a small SOS symbol appearing in the upper right corner of their iPhones.

This symbol signifies that your device is not connected to your cellular network, rendering you unable to make regular phone calls or send texts unless you have access to Wi-Fi.

Despite the lack of signal, your iPhone is far from useless.

In addition to the status bar, you may also see an SOS symbol when you attempt to turn off your iPhone.

This is the Emergency SOS feature, designed to facilitate quick access to help.

When you make a call with SOS, your iPhone automatically dials the local emergency number and shares your location information with emergency services.

Depending on your location, you might need to choose the service you require.

Additionally, the term 'SOS' is a universally recognized distress signal in Morse Code.

It is often associated with phrases like 'Save Our Souls' or 'Save Our Ship'.

If you've added any emergency contacts to your device, they will be alerted once the emergency call ends. They will receive a text message with your current location. However, if you prefer not to alert them, you can choose to cancel this feature.
