Stow's affection for Rex was so great that he erected a bronze statue of the dog beside his own grave after he passed away in 1884. Although it is uncertain whether Rex was interred there as well, it is likely.

Located in Green-Wood Cemetery, Rex's memorial still receives visitors who leave sticks as a tribute, a testament to Stow's deep love for his canine companion.
