A sense of fear and bewilderment has gripped social media users who encountered a terrifying route upon seeing the long sheer cliff face in Switzerland.
One user shared a video capturing the perilous path taken by hikers and mountaineers in Interlaken, Switzerland on Reddit, leaving a number of people scared.
The caption of the video: “Insane Breathtaking Cliff Hiking in Interlaken, Switzerland. Will you do this? Every step matters.”
The post originally appeared on Tuesday (November 28) and quickly went viral, gaining attention 3,000 times.
The video showed hikers stepping on small rebar steps affixed to the mountain's side, but the most chilling aspect is the profound drop visible
The video was recorded via the Ferrata route in the village of Murren, a form of scrambling where adventurers ascend cliffs using steel cables, ladders, rungs, and other fixed anchors.
Reddit users are shocked by the treacherous path, and they share comments seeking answers on how any adventurers had the bravery to attempt the trek.
One person felt scared and said: I feel I was involuntarily euthanized 4 times watching this.
This is called a “Via Ferrata” and I’ve actually done one! Though they look like you’re one slip from tragedy, that “handrail” is also an anchor point for a harness and a pair of safety ropes, so even if you were to slip and fall, you’d fall 1-3 feet and be shaken up at worst. While a second wrote.
A third commented: Very high heights make my groin hurt it's the worst sensation that even a physical video can cause this physical pain.
Someone else wrote: yeah, I've done this and it's actually a lot easier than ppl here think. it's only fooling people who've never tried it. I'm only 50kg and incredibly unathletic, can't do a single pushup or pull-up, and I've completed a via Ferrata course.
