Just last week, the rapper Snoop Doog shocked fans in the world with an announcement that he is giving up 'smoke'.
On the X platform, formerly known as Twitter, he shared a video that announced to fans about his decision to 'give up smoke.
Posting to X, Snoop wrote: “I’m giving up smoke. After much consideration & conversation with my family, I’ve decided to give up smoke.
“Please respect my privacy at this time.”
Immediately, his post went viral on social media, and fans of the rapper not only expressed their surprise but also offered congratulations and encouragement, recognizing the health risks associated with smoking
However, Snoop recently revealed the real meaning behind his previous message. In a video shared on X, formerly Twitter, Snoop explained that it was all a part of an advertisement.
However, while his fans were initially happy when he gave up smoking, they were left shocked again after the reveal that he had given up smoking as part of a PR stunt for the smokeless fire pit company Solo Stove.
Correctly, it appeared that fans of the rapper were stunned by the announcement.
In the advert, he explained: “I have an announcement. I’m giving up smoke. I know what you’re thinking, ‘Snoop? Smoke is kinda your whole thing?’
“But I’m done with it. I’m done with […] my clothes smelling all sticky icky. I’m going smokeless. Solo Stove fixed fire, they take out the smoke, clever.”
Below the footage, people flooded the comments section expressing their upset about the rapper as well as sharing their thoughts on the advertising trickery.
One person upseted: I feel sorry for the addicts who also quit weed and looked up to him when they thought he quit. I'm sure they're pretty upset right now.
A second wrote: That's sad . . . He is a mentor and I read 3 others on social media said the same thing. So are they talking bout smoking or smoking too? If they are talking bout smoking too, that's terrible. Because now they're gonna continue instead of actually doing something good.
Snoop hasn't actually vowed to never light up a spliff ever again, he's just vowed to not use a fire pit which makes his clothes smell of smoke. A third explained.
Someone else said: If you really believed that Snoop would stop the smoke you weren't a real fan to begin with.
Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, is famous as a rapper who started in the early 90s. The legendary rapper is known for his habit of smoking blunts.
Despite his efforts, he tried to sobriety from weed before, back in 2002, but he relapsed not long after.
