The internet has several hacks for Starbucks, but not all phishing tactics are successful.
A Starbucks employee, who was known as Sinead Robbin, 22, worked at Starbucks in Massachusetts in the United States. In a viral video on social media, she has a park debate after sharing a video to reveal the customer's deceptive tactic of trying to get a free drink when they made an online order.
In the video, she showed an image of a label where a customer, shamelessly, bought a 5-cent bag through the online app, but then tried to include their entire drink order in the 'order request' section.
In a video, Robbins recounted the incident, stating: "Today someone ordered a handle bag, which is 5 cents (USD).".
The Starbucks worker even then printed out the 'mobile order' and affixed it to a plastic cup. The post read: "Hi, could I please have a grande strawberry creme frap with no whipped cream and a strawless lid?" followed by a casual “thank you!”.
In the footage, she explained that below the order, there is a text box designated for additional requests where the customer has entered their drink order. A Starbucks employee criticized the customer's attempt at trickery. She claimed that this wasn't a Starbucks hack.
She added, "It was a little bit funny, but it didn’t work, and we just cancelled the order."
On TikTok, numerous users admitted that they used to try this to save money. While another claimed that they actually make it for extra food in the special.
The post has since been removed after the comments seen by the New York Post were mixed, many of which came from hospitality workers.
