On social media, a Tesla Cybertruck owner, who goes by @captain.ad, shared a video on Tiktok, revealing that his nearly new vehicle broke down after a car wash.
The owner, who had only driven the $80,000 truck for about 3,400 miles, shared his experience on TikTok, leaving viewers stunned.
The video quickly went viral on social media and sparked a 'known issue' with the Cybertruck.
The owner claimed that the Cybertruck stopped functioning after he washed sand off it at a car wash following a beach trip.
The Cybertruck owner explained that he attempted to reset the vehicle, but it remained unresponsive.
Although it appeared drivable, the lack of a working display or speedometer rendered it unfit for the road.
The incident sparked a wave of reactions online. In the comment section, many Cybertruck owners expressed concerns over the vehicle's reliability.
While some suggested that Tesla should prioritize potential solutions during its production.
One person said: Hold the buttons down for 2 minutes. It doesn’t do anything but it gives you time to contemplate your life decisions.
A second wrote: They probably forget to put it in car wash mode; it locks the charging port.
While a third commented: Apparently doesn’t wanna be cleaned, and I’ve been describing this vehicle as a tin can since it first came into existence.
Someone else said: Except tin cans don't rust after rain when in a garage lol
Another wrote:So basically it’s not waterproof. What the hell happens in a storm ?
Tesla then responded to the complaint of the Cybertruck owner, stating that this was a 'known issue'.
By the next morning, his vehicle was functioning normally again.
However, he was surprised when Tesla explained the issue: “It is a known issue in the Cybertruck that when you do a screen reset, instead of resetting in the standard two minutes, it takes five hours. Hopefully, it gets addressed in a future software patch.”
It warns that failure to put the Cybertruck in Car Wash Mode may result in damage to the charge port or windshield wipers, which is not covered by the warranty.
This is not the first time the Tesla Cybertruck has had issues, leaving owners concerned.
In the footage, the Tesla owner demonstrated how the cover could slip and jam the pedal in a fully depressed position.
The video also showed the dangers of the situation, especially for those prone to panic attacks.
The video quickly went viral on social media and sparked concern among Cybertruck owners.
Responding to an inaccurate post claiming Cybertruck deliveries were resuming, Musk stated that Tesla is "being very cautious" due to the issue.
Additionally, Tesla also faced delivery delays and communication issues while the company recently announced plans to lay off over 10% of its workforce.
