Tesla recently made headlines after controversially canceling a last-minute order from a California bakery owner, causing significant financial loss.
However, the car company has now repaid the bakery owner in full.
The California bakery owner, Voahangy Rasetarinera, faced significant financial loss when Tesla abruptly canceled a last-minute order worth $16,000.
However, following public outcry and social media attention, the car company addressed the situation by repaying Rasetarinera for the expenses she had already incurred.
According to Rasetarinera, the owner of The Giving Pies, had initially received an order from Tesla for 2,000 mini pies.
To complete this bulk order carefully, she invested $2,000 to purchase all the necessary ingredients.
However, a few days later, Tesla unexpectedly doubled the order to 4,000 pies.
The sudden change in the order put Voahangy Rasetarinera in a tough spot financially.
The increased order of 4,000 pies would have required a significant financial commitment of approximately $16,000, which was a considerable sum for her small business.
Unfortunately, after Rasetarinera had prepared for the expanded order and reached out to Tesla for payment, she suddenly received a text message informing her that the order had been canceled.
The bakery owner expressed her disappointment and emphasized the significant impact this loss had on her small business.
While $2,000 might be considered a small sum for a large corporation like Tesla, it held a huge value for Rasetarinera and her bakery.
News of the canceled order quickly spread, attracting the attention of local media outlets and the supportive local community.
Customers flooded into The Giving Pies bakery and their social media platforms to support the store and create a wave of outrage against Tesla.
After that, the story finally reached Tesla's CEO, Elon Musk.
He then immediately responded on social media, stating that he had just known the situation and would ensure that the bakery was compensated.
Just only an hour after Resetrinera shared her story with ABC7 News, Tesla repaid the $2,000 she had spent on ingredients for their canceled order.
Raserinera said she also received other cake orders for next week's events from someone, but she turned down the offer after the store's huge losses.
However, Voahangy Rasetrinera, the owner of The Giving Pies, has shown her willingness to collaborate with Tesla again in the future.
Raserinera believes in forgiveness and second chances, admitting that mistakes happen and appreciating Tesla's sincere efforts to address the situation.
In addition to expressing her gratitude to the customers who rallied behind her business, Rasetrinera emphasized the heartwarming support she received.
"I think I have no words to express my gratitude," Rasetrinera said.
