A few days ago,Tom Brady, the former NFL quarterback, found himself at the center of attention during Netflix's "The Roast of Tom Brady."
Additionally, the show, featuring comedians and fellow athletes, became a hit with viewers. However, Brady's experience wasn't all laughter and applause.
The jokes about Tom Brady on Netflix's "The Roast of Tom Brady' quickly went viral and sparked discussion on social media.
During the show, Tom Brady sparked debate after his jokes, including snapping at Robert Kraft and the sports star taking aim at Kanye West and ex-wife Kim Kardashian.
Tom Brady's moment of humor not only sparked debate but also impacted his children.
While Brady appreciated the humor directed at himself, some of the jokes had unintended consequences.
In an interview on The Pivot Podcast, Tom Braday revealed that certain remarks affected his children. Brady, who has three kids—a son and daughter with ex-wife Gisele Bündchen and another son with Bridget Moynahan—realized that signing up for a roast required thick skin.
Roasts are often seen as a mark of respect or affection for the subject. Comedians take aim at various aspects of the honoree's life, including personal relationships.
In Brady's case, many jokes revolved around his marriage and subsequent divorce from Bündchen, which was announced in October 2022 after 13 years together.
Brady admitted to The Pivoy that he enjoyed the jokes when they were about him personally. However, he didn't appreciate how they affected his children.
He said: 'I didn’t like the way they affected my kids."
After admitting that his jokes affected his children, he emphasized that he would learn from the experience and strive to be a better parent. Laughter is essential, but not at the expense of family well-being.
He said: “I’m going to be a better parent as I go forward because of it. At the same time, I’m happy everyone who was there had a lot of fun. If we’re not laughing about things, we’re crying.
"We should have more fun. What do we love? We love laughing in the locker room. Let’s do more of that and love each other and celebrate other people’s success.”
He acknowledged that sometimes naivety plays a role, but he appreciates when people poke fun at him. Whether it's watching Premier League soccer, golf, or comedy shows, Brady values laughter. His decision to participate in the roast was influenced by his relationship with comedian Jeff Ross, even though the full picture isn't always visible.
