Whoopi Goldberg, a renowned Hollywood actress and panelist on The View, is known for her straightforwardness.
This is why she attracted attention after being asked why she remains unmarried in the last show.
The 68-year-old star is often questioned about why she remains unmarried, to which she has a straightforward response
During an appearance on The Don Lemon Show, Goldberg revealed, "I am fundamentally a selfish person and I’ve found that because I have a wonderful kid, and a son-in-law, and three grandkids and one great-grand[kid], that I don’t have time for a whole lot of other people coming into my life."
Goldberg further elaborated on her decision not to remarry during a conversation with Chris Wallace on Who’s Talking.
She explained, "You know, when you're married to somebody, you have to be invested in how they're feeling. I am not. I’m invested in my kid. I'm invested in her kids. I'm invested in my son in law. I'm invested in my friends. But I'm not invested in a relationship that would require as much as having a child requires and I know that that's not for me."
Despite her decision to stay unmarried, Goldberg clarified that she is not opposed to casual relationships. She told Lemon, "Hit and runs are great, I don’t mind those, but you can’t spend the night. I know you're not supposed to say that but I think you must say it because not everybody is meant to be married. But many people enjoy, you know, sex. So sometimes a little hit and run is not bad."
Goldberg has been married three times.
Her first marriage to Alvin Martin ended in divorce in 1979; the couple shares a daughter, Alexandrea, 51.
In 1986, she married cinematographer David Claessen, but they divorced two years later. Her last marriage was to Lyle Trachtenberg in 1994, but they separated the following year.
In a 2011 interview with Piers Morgan, Goldberg admitted that she had never been in love with any of her husbands. She explained, "I wanted to feel normal and it seemed to me that if I was married I would have a more normal life. But clearly that's not the case, that's not a good reason to get married. You have to actually want a life with someone through ups and downs and I just discovered that wasn't for me."
Fans have been sharing thoughts about her future on the chat show after she allegedly appeared 'uninterested' while taping a recent episode.
