The woman has sparked a discussion about earning enough money to live. She left thousands of Americans shocked after breaking down in tears while disclosing that she works three jobs and still feels financially strained.
Jourdan Skirha, 29, posted a clip on TikTok breaking down her financial woes, which ignited debate on social media.
In the TikTok video, Jourdan Skirha from Scottsdale, Arizona, reveals that she has three jobs but is still struggling. She tells her followers that she has been working since she was 15.
The video has the caption: "I just want to know if any other single millennials are in the same boat as me or if I'm the huge problem."
'I'm just getting myself farther and farther into credit card debt because I don't have enough after the first of the month to avoid using it. It just isn't working,'
She acknowledged this, but she also said she had no idea if those in the hospitality industry were getting paid enough.
She said: 'I have seriously considered quitting my full-time good job to go back to serving because at least I can... use my personality and try to get more money than minimum wage or what an "entry-level" job pays people nowadays,'
She complained: 'It's f***ing sick,'
Jourdan further elaborated on the adverse impact on her credit rating, attributing its decline to the frequent usage of her credit.
Reflecting on the past, she lamented the contrast from when her credit was considered exceptional, with a track record of promptly paying off every credit card bill.
The current reality, however, is starkly different. The straightforward approach of settling bills in full is no longer feasible, given the financial challenges she faces.
Despite having a full-time job, it proves inadequate. Even with a supplementary second job, the financial strain persists, and relying on a third job introduces uncertainty about timely payments.
Jourdan candidly expressed the overwhelming sensation of drowning in financial difficulties, feeling at a loss for a solution.
In response to critics questioning her financial choices, Jourdan defended herself in the comments section, refuting accusations of living beyond her means.
One person said: I feel you. I’m 32 and work in finance, making decent money. No kids. I have no luxury apartment and I live paycheck to paycheck. You’re not alone. Stay strong
A second wrote: I'm a dental hygienist and make really good money. I'm 34 on my own and I am still living paycheck to paycheck.
While a third commented: I feel this too, girl! I am a 32-year-old single woman and am struggling. I don't know how people with kids do it right now.
Someone else said: The unfortunate truth is that you have to sacrifice the things you love doing. probably have to sell the car and use public transport. Life is hard.
