Woman embarrassed as boss catches her on same flight after sick leave request

Leila Soares, an Australian woman, fell into an embarrassing situation when she called in sick to her job to catch a flight, only to discover that her boss was on the same plane.

Leila shared her story in a viral TikTok video that has been viewed over 9 million times.

In the video, Leila films herself onboard the JetStar flight, realizing that her boss is also on the plane. 

She captions the video, "Messaged my boss to call in sick only to find he on the same flight." 

The clip shows Leila, wearing a cap, sunglasses, and a face mask, looking visibly mortified by the coincidence.

Leila later clarified in the comments that her boss likely didn't see her when he boarded the plane, as the passengers sitting in the back entered from the rear door, while he was seated further upfront.

However, Leila knew she was in a precarious situation, as her deception had been exposed.

Grace had informed her employers that she had a doctor's appointment and couldn't work for the day. However, she was actually using the time off to travel home to Bali.

As Grace waited in line to board the plane, she spotted a familiar face, her manager.

He approached her and sarcastically asked, "Oh, so this is a hospital?" Grace was completely embarrassed to be caught in her lie.

But the situation didn't turn out too badly. Grace said that she and her boss ended up chatting and laughing together during the whole flight.

"We talked the whole time on the plane, and he even took a picture of me and sent it to me," she recalled.

Leila's story has gained the public's attention on social media platforms, with many online users also shared their similar cases.

I thought it was bad when my manager phoned, bc I texted her I was sick. I had to answer the phone while at the airport. There was announcements like boarding at gate number.. In the background, one user said.

I remembered once i was getting ready to get on a plane and bumped into my staff. That’s when i figured why he took an extra leave. The flight i took was a weekend & he applied for an extended leave, the second user said.
