Getting fired on your wedding day is an unimaginable ordeal. Unfortunately, this was the reality for Amanda, who discovered her employment termination through a text message later that evening.
Her sudden removal from the company’s WhatsApp groups prompted her to investigate, leading to the heartbreaking realization.
Amanda shared her distressing experience on a popular talk show, revealing that she read the message amidst her wedding celebrations, surrounded by friends. "I saw the message, and with all my friends around me, I just gasped," Amanda recalled.
The show’s host, Askins, expressed his outrage, labeling it 'one of the worst things he’s ever heard.' The discussion then shifted to the circumstances surrounding Amanda’s unexpected firing.
Amanda was informed that her termination was due to 'performance issues.' However, as she was still within her probation period, the company was not required to provide further justification. "I had no indication whatsoever of these performance issues," Amanda stated, highlighting her shock and disbelief.
Askins criticized the company's culture, stating, "They fired you and now they're trying to reverse the story with random reasons." He added, "Obviously they don’t deserve you… but the fact they chose that day and included that in both the email and the text. "
He called it "one of the worst things he’s ever heard." The company's attempt to reverse the story by citing random reasons only added insult to injury. Askins rightly questioned the company's actions: "Who the hell do these people think they are?"
In a separate incident, Ryan Brandt, a waitress at Oven & Tap in Arkansas, experienced both joy and disappointment.
She and her colleague provided exceptional service to a large table of business executives. In appreciation, the guests left a generous tip of $4,400 to be split between the two servers.
The caption of the Instagram post read: "We got to bless our server tonight with $4,400. As a group, we collected $100 from each of us at the #witly CMO Conference. I’m humbled to have been part of something so beautiful and generous."
In the video, Grant Wise, the dinner host, can be seen handing Brandt a lump sum of cash. He explained that everyone at the table had contributed $100, and additional donations came in through social media, totaling $4,400 for her and her colleague.
However, Ryan Brandt's shift manager informed her that she could only keep 20 percent of the cash. The restaurant demanded the rest be returned. To her shock, when Brandt returned to work, she was fired for accepting the money.
In an interview with KNWA news, Brandt revealed that her shift manager informed her that she needed to hand over the cash, and she would only be allowed to keep 20 percent. Brandt told Fox 59 that the incident was unprecedented in her more than three years of working there.
Wise, the host of the dinner, found out, and he demanded that the restaurant return the tip money.
They handed her the cash outside the premises, with $2,200.
However, when Brandt returned to the restaurant, she was shocked to find out that she had been fired for accepting the money.
Brandt told CBS 5: “They fired me from Oven and Tap over the phone and I’ve been there for 3 1/2 years and that was really heartbreaking,” “Especially because I didn’t think I did anything wrong.”
