On Tiktok patform, a viral video showed price of an El Pollo Loco drive-thru meal, gained attention and sparked debate on social media.
A woman expressed her astonishment at the high price of an El Pollo Loco drive-thru meal in a viral video on social media. This prompted her to skip the purchase and cook at home instead.
On Tiktok, a user, who goes by @josieherrera65 shared a video on this platform, showing the 'crazy' price of El Pollo Loco drive-thru meal.
Josie, a customer, took to TikTok last week to share her reaction to the $43.99 cost of El Pollo Loco's 12-Piece Fire-Grilled Chicken Family Meal.
In the text overlay, she wrote: 'I did not buy. I went home and made dinner. I was not going to get ripped off'.
In the footage, she revealed that she was used to the same meal being priced at $12.99 and expressed shock at the current $43.99 tag.
'I remember when the 12-piece family meal was $12.99. Now, it's $43,' she said.
'I was okay when it was $23.99 and $28.99, but $43.99? That is crazy.'
The meal includes 12 pieces of chicken, three large sides, tortillas, and chips with salsa. El Pollo Loco also offers 8-piece and 16-piece options priced at $32.99 and $52.99, respectively, on Grubhub, varying by location and taxes.
El Pollo Loco, founded by Juan Francisco Ochoa in 1975, has nearly 500 locations across the US.
The chain, like many others, adjusted menu prices last year, citing increased operational costs and California's minimum wage hike to $20 per hour for fast food employees.
In the comments section, many viewers expressed their shock at the high price of $43.99 for the 12-piece family meal at El Pollo Loco.
Some decided to cook at home in response to the price increase. Others suggested purchasing chicken from local grocery stores to save money instead of eating at fast-food chains
