Woman nearly loses her life after swallowing toothbrush

A 21-year-old woman reportedly swallowed her toothbrush after attempting to use it to dislodge food stuck in her throat. The toothbrush lodged inside, making three sounds and causing no pain.

The rare incident occurred on November 29 when Heizea, a 21-year-old resident of Gardaka, Spain, began experiencing difficulties while choking on a piece of turkey.

Gasping for breath, her first move was to grab her toothbrush to try and force the turkey out of her throat — but she went too far and gulped down the 8-inch instrument.

She found it difficult, so she took a toothbrush and tried to brush all the turkey meat out of her throat. She gasped for breath to try to move to the 20cm long brush in her throat. But, she went too far when she had to act quickly because there was no one around to help. Consequently, she gulped down the 8-inch instrument.

Accroding to Newsflash, she explained: "My dad couldn’t help me because he’s stuck in a wheelchair with a damaged Achilles tendon, so I decided to help myself by using the toothbrush."

"Because it was only getting worse, I grabbed the first thing I could get hold of which was the toothbrush to try and dislodge it,” she continued.

Later, Heizea was taken to the hospital. Remarkably, she didn't feel any pain when the brush got stuck in her throat just difficulty breathing.

The medical staff was shocked and rushed around, they couldn’t believe it until they saw the X-rays.

After three hours of examination and pre-judgment, the doctor successfully removed the toothbrush from the Spanish girl's neck within 40 minutes, while Heizea was  sedation

The doctor uses this tool by using a toothbrush tip with a surgical vine attached and pulling it outward from the inside of her esophagus, which without surgery required.
