According to the New York Post, a 76-year-old woman was declared dead at a hospital in Ecuador, astonishing her relatives when she regained consciousness during the vigil.
She suddenly wakes up and starts banging on the inside of her coffin, leaving her loved ones in disbelief. Following this unexpected turn of events, the government initiates an investigation into the hospital.
Previously, a video posted on Twitter showed Bella Montoya lying in an open coffin. She was short of breath while two men helped her out of the coffin.
According to Jam Press, Montoya's son, Gilbert Balberán, shared with local media that: “Her left hand was hitting the side of the coffin, and it was shaking,”
According to Barberan, a vigil was held for his mother about four hours after doctors confirmed Montoya was dead. The coroner even provided him with a death certificate. The cause of death was recorded as cardiac arrest and respiratory arrest.
After the rare event, Montoya, who was presumed dead, woke up suddenly at her funeral and was announced she was in stable condition by Balberán.
“My mother is on oxygen. Her heart is stable,” he declared. “The doctor squeezed her hand, and she reacted. They tell me this is a good sign because it means she is reacting little by little.”
“Now, I only ask that my mother’s health improves,” he added. “I want her alive and by my side.”
Mr. Barberan said that due to his poor family, he had to arrange a coffin when he heard the hospital announce his mother's death. He doesn't see anything unusual, even the hospital provided him with a death certificate.
However, now that his parents have calmed down, he describes the incident as a 'miracle from God and is slowly beginning to understand what happened'.
However, the government asked the hospital for the reason behind issuing a mistaken death certificate.
